Author Guidelines

The Journal of Pharmacovigilance and Drug Research (JPADR) welcomes high-quality original manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of pharmacovigilance, drug safety, regulatory science, and related healthcare disciplines. Authors are requested to carefully read and follow these guidelines before submitting their manuscripts.

Roles of Editor

 


1. Aims and Scope

The Journal of Pharmacovigilance and Drug Research (JPADR) is the official publication of the Global Pharmacovigilance Society. It is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scientific research in pharmacovigilance and related disciplines.

The journal welcomes manuscripts covering, but not limited to:

  • Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)

  • Pharmacoepidemiology

  • Regulatory Science
  • Signal Detection and Signal Management
  • Clinical Research

JPADR provides an international platform for researchers, clinicians, academicians, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical scientists, and students to disseminate scientific knowledge that improves patient safety and promotes the safe use of medicines.


2. Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. Authors are strongly encouraged to review the journal's ethical guidelines before submission.


3. Preprint Policy

JPADR supports responsible scholarly communication. Authors may deposit preprint versions of their manuscripts in recognized repositories such as bioRxiv or their institutional repositories prior to journal submission. Authors should disclose any preprint posting during manuscript submission.


4. Article Processing Charge (APC)

Publication in JPADR is subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC). Please refer to the Article Processing Charges (APC) page for the latest fee structure and waiver policy.


5. Article Types

JPADR accepts the following manuscript categories:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Systematic Reviews
  • Meta-Analyses
  • Case Reports
  • Case Series
  • Case Studies
  • Short Communications
  • Editorials
  • Letters to the Editor

6. Manuscript Preparation

All manuscripts must:

  • Be written in clear and concise English.
  • Be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format only.
  • Follow the official JPADR manuscript template.
  • Be accompanied by a Cover Letter.
  • PDF files will not be accepted.

Formatting Requirements

  • Author names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, and email addresses must not appear in the manuscript to preserve double-blind peer review.
  • Title: Times New Roman, 14 pt, Bold, Sentence Case.
  • Headings: Times New Roman, 12 pt, Bold.
  • Main text: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing.
  • Pages should be numbered consecutively.
  • Use SI units throughout the manuscript.

Abstract

  • Structured abstract
  • 150–200 words
  • Prepared according to PubMed recommendations

Keywords

  • Provide 4–5 keywords.
  • Keywords should not duplicate words already used in the title.

Manuscript Structure

Research articles should follow the IMRDC format:

  1. Introduction
  2. Methods
  3. Results
  4. Discussion
  5. Conclusion

Tables and Figures

  • Tables should be numbered sequentially (Table 1, Table 2, etc.).
  • Figures should be numbered sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.).
  • Each table and figure must be cited within the manuscript.

References

References should follow the Vancouver referencing style.

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements, funding information, and conflict of interest statements should appear immediately before the References section.


7. Editorial and Peer Review Process

Every manuscript undergoes an initial technical screening by the Managing Editor to verify compliance with journal policies and scope.

Suitable manuscripts are assigned to an Academic Editor and undergo double-blind peer review by independent experts.

Based on reviewers' recommendations, the Editor may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

8. Plagiarism Policy

Authors must submit only original work. Any form of plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, image manipulation, or unethical publishing practice is strictly prohibited.

All submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin Similarity Check prior to peer review.


9. Open Access Policy

JPADR is a fully Open Access journal. All published articles are immediately and permanently accessible without subscription or registration.


10. Digital Archiving

JPADR preserves its published content through internationally recognized digital archiving systems including:

  • CLOCKSS
  • LOCKSS

11. Copyright and Licensing

Articles published in JPADR are distributed under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 License. Authors retain copyright while granting the journal the right to publish their work.


12. Appeals

Authors who disagree with an editorial decision may submit a formal appeal to the Managing Editor, clearly stating the manuscript ID and the reasons for the appeal. The Editor-in-Chief will review the appeal and issue the final decision.


13. Corrections (Errata and Corrigenda)

If significant errors are identified after publication, JPADR will publish an Erratum (journal error) or Corrigendum (author error) to maintain the integrity of the scientific record.


14. Retractions

Articles may be retracted, withdrawn, corrected, or replaced if significant scientific errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication. Retractions will follow the journal's Publication Ethics policy.


15. Disclaimer

The opinions expressed in published articles are solely those of the authors. JPADR, its editors, reviewers, and publisher assume no responsibility for errors, omissions, or consequences arising from the use of published information.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material included in their manuscripts.

Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere unless fully disclosed to the journal at submission.


16. Privacy Statement

Names, email addresses, and other personal information collected during the submission and publication process will be used exclusively for editorial, peer review, and publication purposes. Personal information will not be shared with third parties except where required for journal operations or by law.
